WEWE is a not-for-profit, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2004 with its headquarters in Abuja. We solicit qualified individuals who share the same ideologies with WEWE to become part of our distinguished board members for a renewable 2-year term.

WEWE is a fast-growing not-for-profit, faith-based, women-led NGO founded in 2004 with headquarters in Abuja. WEWE has grown from managing an income of initially $6,000/annum in 2005 to over $2.8 million US dollars/annum. It has also grown from just 1 staff to over 80 staff in 2020, and from working in a few communities in Imo State to working in over 400 communities in 17 states: WEWE has active programs in Imo, Abuja, Ebonyi, and Rivers states.

WEWE’s core ideology is to be one of the most financially compliant NGOs in Nigeria and Africa and improve the lives of millions of widows and orphans in Nigeria and Africa.

In 2022 WEWE entered a new chapter that involves expanding our funding and operations. Therefore, WEWE is earnestly seeking board members who have over 20 years of working experience and are professional Medical Doctors, Pharmacist, Public Health Practitioners, senior chartered Auditors preferably from the top 5 audit firms in Nigeria, senior Lawyers (preferably SAN), and a Resource Mobilization expert who have practical experience in mobilizing resources;  to help WEWE to achieve our organizational vision and mission.

The roles and responsibilities of WEWE Board Members will include to:

  1. in person (No virtual meeting)
  2. Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Director (ED) as s/he develops and implements WEWE’s strategic plan
  3. Review WEWE’s annual progress and performance reports
  4. Approve WEWE’s yearly budget, audit reports, and material business decisions
  5. Contribute to an annual performance evaluation of the ED
  6. Partner with the ED and board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  7. Serve on committees or task forces and take on special assignments, representing WEWE at stakeholders functions
  8. Act as an ambassador for the organization
  9. Raise funds for WEWE by supporting proposals writing and engaging local fundraising.

Qualifications

General

  • WEWE’s board members must have over 20 to 30 working years of experience in leadership positions such as being head of unit/department/division, Managing Director, Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Chief Executive Officer, Top manager, high-level relationship with donors such as USAID, Nigeria or US CDC, DFID, Global Fund, GIZ, FCBO, EU, Ford Foundation, TY Danjuma Foundation, Aliko Dangote Foundation, etc.
  • Have an updated individual tax clearance for the last three years from the Federal or State Inland Revenue Service as this is a new requirement from Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
  • A candidate whose home base is in Abuja FCT has an added advantage.

Auditor

  • Bachelor’s Degree in banking and finance, business administration, accounting, or finance.
  • Professional accounting designation such as ACA/ACMA/ACCA/ANAN or equivalent
  • Ph.D or Master’s Degree in banking and finance, business administration, accounting, or finance is an added advantage and strongly desired
  • Experience working with top 5 audit firms,
  • Preferably be a fellow of ICAN

Legal Practitioner

  • LLB (Bachelor of Laws)
  • Experience in company laws and NGO statutory regulations
  • Preferably a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)
  • A Master degree or Ph.D. in Law will be an added advantage  

Medical Doctor

  • MBBS or similar Degree with relevant experience in clinical care with a sound understanding of HIV/AIDS with the provision of PMTCT, TB, and anti-retroviral therapy (ART) in resource-constrained settings and health systems, strengthening
  • BSc. Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy or other closely related fields
  • Familiarity with Nigerian public sector health systems and NGOs, and CBOs is highly desirable.
  • MPH or Ph.D. in Public Health will be an added advantage

Remuneration: Service on WEWE’s board is without remuneration or any financial benefits.
