Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor and Law Firm
Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is soliciting for a lawyer or a law firm. The lawyer should have a minimum of a Second Class Upper division in LL.B bachelors in Law for the position of Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor. The law firm should be experienced in intellectual property/contract law and litigation. WEWE is a registered reputable national non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides socio-economic empowerment to orphans, vulnerable children and widows in Nigeria. WEWE is currently implementing a comprehensive USAID-funded Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) project called Local Partners Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria (LOPIN 2). The Corporate Lawyer/Legal adviser or Law firm’s duties include: reviews of all WEWE’s contracts, verification of employee’s credentials, human resource management, legal representation and other assignments assigned by the Executive Director. The lawyer/law firm should be registered with/ or be able to register with CAC to be able to gain access to CAC to conduct appropriate filing.
Qualifications for Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor
- Must have a minimum of a Second Class Upper LL.B and B.L in Law
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate law firm.
- Must have knowledge in corporate law, contract law, labor law, tax law and intellectual property.
- Experience in reviewing, executing business contracts and giving legal advice.
- Familiarity with the current Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) policies and guidelines is crucial.
- Up-to-date knowledge on company/NGO registration and legislation in Nigeria.
- Experience in Human Resource management
- Strong verbal reasoning and writing skills
- Experience in litigation is an added advantage
- Proficient in the use of computer especially MS word and Excel.
