Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor and Law Firm

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is soliciting for a lawyer or a law firm. The lawyer should have a minimum of a Second Class Upper division in LL.B bachelors in Law for the position of Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor. The law firm should be experienced in intellectual property/contract law and litigation. WEWE is a registered reputable national non-governmental organization (NGO) that provides socio-economic empowerment to orphans, vulnerable children and widows in Nigeria. WEWE is currently implementing a comprehensive USAID-funded Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) project called Local Partners Initiative for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Nigeria (LOPIN 2). The Corporate Lawyer/Legal adviser or Law firm’s duties include: reviews of all WEWE’s contracts, verification of employee’s credentials, human resource management, legal representation and other assignments assigned by the Executive Director. The lawyer/law firm should be registered with/ or be able to register with CAC to be able to gain access to CAC to conduct appropriate filing.

Qualifications for Corporate Lawyer/Legal Advisor

  1. Must have a minimum of a Second Class Upper LL.B and B.L in Law
  2. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a corporate law firm.
  3. Must have knowledge in corporate law, contract law, labor law, tax law and intellectual property.
  4. Experience in reviewing, executing business contracts and giving legal advice.
  5. Familiarity with the current Cooperate Affairs Commission (CAC) policies and guidelines is crucial.
  6. Up-to-date knowledge on company/NGO registration and legislation in Nigeria.
  7. Experience in Human Resource management
  8. Strong verbal reasoning and writing skills
  9. Experience in litigation is an added advantage
  10. Proficient in the use of computer especially MS word and Excel.
