Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE), a non-governmental Organisation implementing a USAID Effective Water Sanitation and Hygiene Services (E-WASH Program) titled ‘Civic Advocacy and WASH stakeholders Engagement Grant in Imo State’
The objective of this program is to assist the government of Nigeria to expand and improve urban water service delivery by strengthening the governance, financial and technical viability of state water boards in Nigeria. The program activity will concentrate on solidifying state, municipal and utility-level governance gains, manifested in improved water supply services, and an improved ability to regulate, manage, and expand sanitation services. Position E-WASH Program Officer
Reports to Program Manager
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support in work plan and budget development and management
- Interpretation and implementation of work plan
- Plan and execute program activities in a timely and accurate manner
- Support in the engagement of stakeholders to support EWASH policies
- Support in generating and collecting data for program decision
- Identification of key support structures for successful project implementation
- Conduct advocacy and courtesy visits to key stakeholders
- Formation and strengthening of community EWASH structures
- Supervision of community activities
- Community mobilization and engagement
- Report writing and development
- Identification and Documentation of success stories and best practices
- Participate in meetings and reviews
- Attend to other duties that might be assigned by the management
QUALIFICATION, REQUIREMENT AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with NGOs specialized in Humanitarian assistance
- Previous work experience in Humanitarian assistance activity in Imo State.
- Previous experience in program management of a WASH project is essential.
- Excellent communication, and organizational skills; and ability to influence and facilitate advocacy agendas at State and LGA levels
- Understanding of local communities and cultures, and ability to communicate fluently in the commonly spoken local language.
- Ability to travel and work in difficult settings, including remote rural areas of the state.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, or similar software
- Experience managing USAID funded programs
