Finance Officer (Trainee Program)

Are you a talented/award-winning Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA)? With

  • A Second Class Upper (2.1) and above or Upper credit in accounting?
  • Fully qualified Chartered Accountant with ICAN, ANAN, or ACCA?
  • Are you currently working in a local or international audit firm?
  • Are you an accountant that has received awards for best staff or student?
  • Do you have an interest in transferring from working in a private sector audit firm to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?

WEWE has a ‘Finance Officer Trainee Program’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning associate-chartered accountants, who have no experience working as an accountant for an NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about Accounting for NGOs. Also, to understand practical applications of accounting for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & EU.

The benefits, of the trainee position, are:

  1. N150, 000/monthly and pension.
  2. After successful performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.
  3. Opportunity for in-house on job certificated training on procurement for NGOs, Statutory compliance for NGOs, and Accounting for NGOs.
  4. A certificate of completion.

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a legally registered incorporated Trustees, a local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill in the position of Finance Officer (Trainee).

WEWE’s core ideology is to be one of the most financially compliant and clean NGOs in Nigeria and Africa and we want to improve the lives of millions of widows and orphans in Nigeria and Africa.

Position:         Finance Officer (Trainee)

Location:        The successful candidate will be based in Abuja

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • S/he will be preparing monthly financial reports.
  • S/he will be preparing monthly bank reconciliation reports.
  • S/he will be posting CBO’s financial reports.
  • S/he will post, maintain, and reconcile financials in QuickBooks Accounting software.
  • S/he will prepare other periodic financial reports as may be requested.
  • S/he will prepare cash advance liquidations for review and submission to the donor.
  • S/he will support the successful external audit of WEWE corporate finances yearly.
  • S/he will facilitate effective, efficient, and timely financial transaction recordings, review all postings from state offices and merge with HQ postings.
  • S/he will support proper budget monitoring/management in a manner that will aid good management decisions on project expenditures.
  • S/he will ensure compliance with statutory deductions and remittances.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting
  • Must have completed NYSC or have an exemption certificate
  • Must possess a second-class upper (2.1) /Upper credit or above
  • Candidates with ICAN, ANAN, or ACCA qualification or its equivalent is preferred
  • Additional professional certifications or postgraduate qualification is an added advantage

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in post-NYSC work experience in a private audit firm
  • Proficient in the use of Quick book accounting software will be an added advantage
  • Must be good in the use of computers and particularly the use of accounting software
  • Quick at responding to emails and voice calls
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
