Information Technology Officer Trainee Program
Are you a talented/award-winning graduate or postgraduate working as an Information Technology officer in a private company and have a desire to join the NGO or Humanitarian sector? WEWE has a Trainee Program which can help you learn how to work in the NGO sector and it can help position you to have the NGO experience to get a job in the NGO sector in the future.
Do you have the following?
- A Second Class Upper (2.1), a first-class or upper credit or distinction in Computer Science, Information Technology Management, or Computer Engineering degree?
- Can you do live-streaming videos and audio?
- Are you currently working in a private IT firm, or a private company as an IT Officer?
- Are you an IT officer that has received awards for the best staff while you were a student or during NYSC?
- Do you have an interest in transferring from working in the private sector to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?
WEWE has an ‘IT Officer position’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning Information Technology Officers with experience working as IT officers who have no experience working in the NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about the NGO sector. Also, to understand practical applications of how to be an IT Officer working in the area of Information Technology services for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & EU.
The benefits of the trainee position as you learn about how to be an Information Technology Officer in an NGO setting are:
N100, 000 monthly and 20% pension cover by the organization- After successful performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.
- Opportunity for in-house on job certificated training on Information Technology for NGO, Procurement for NGOs, Statutory compliance for NGOs, and Legal matters for NGOs.
- A certificate of completion.
Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a legally registered incorporated Trustee, a local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill in the position of Information Technology Officer under WEWE’s one-year trainee program.
Some of WEWE’s core ideology is to be one of the most financially compliant and clean NGOs in Nigeria and Africa and we want to improve the lives of millions of Widows and Orphans in Nigeria and Africa.
Position: Information Technology Officer
Program: WEWE Trainee program
Location: The successful candidate will be based in Abuja
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- S/he must be able to do live video and audio streaming
- S/he should develop a database for WEWE beneficiaries linked to biometrics
- S/he will work with the WEWE customized HR software development to ensure we get quality output and desired configuration and functions
- S/he will develop shot videos weekly for ‘NGO corner’
- S/he will develop a Tiktok of WEWE compliance
- S/he will set up a customized birthday reminder for each staff
- S/he will develop a standard WEWE orientation video
- S/he will assist in identifying and effectively communicating project success by developing success stories, case studies, and short documentaries.
- S/he will assist in updating and maintaining WEWE’s website, social media platforms, and blogs.
- S/he will assist in engaging with mainstream media (Electronic and Print) to increase WEWE’s visibility and promote project impact.
- S/he will assist in editing technical and scientific documents and articles (proofreading, copying, designing, line editing, and substantive editing).
- S/he will assist in Desktop design and layout of technical documents in compliance with donor branding and marking requirements.
- S/he will assist in coordinating Outreach and events with experience in developing press releases, media coverage, press fact sheets, developing scene setters, liaising with US Embassy public affairs units, and managing print, radio, and TV media relation journalists and website information management.
- S/he will assist to Coordinate staff meetings, prepare agendas, and taking minutes of meetings as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mass Communication, Information Technology Management, or Computer Engineering degree (BSc), HND, from a recognized higher institution.
- Must have a distinction, first-class, second-class upper or upper credit.
Required Experience:
- Ability to do live streaming
- Minimum of 1-2 years of working experience as an IT Officer or any related role
- Very strong report-writing skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work long hours when needed.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technology suave i.e., the ability to use social media handles, the internet, and to send an email, etc.
