Video Editor/Communication Officer (Trainee Program)

Are you a talented/award-winning Video Editing and Communication person? With

  • A Second Class Upper (2.1) and above or Upper credit in Communication or any management science degree?
  • Are you currently working in a private firm?
  • Are you a Video Editor/Communication person who has received awards for best staff or student?
  • Do you have an interest in transferring from working in the private sector to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?

WEWE has a ‘Video Editing/Communication Trainee Program’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning Video Editing/Communication Person, who have no experience working as a Video Editor and Communication Officer for an NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about Video editing and Communication issues for NGOs. Also, to understand practical applications of Video Editing and Communication for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & and EU.

The benefits of the trainee position are:

  1. Between N50, 000 – N100, 000 monthly and pension.
  2. After successful performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.
  3. Opportunity for in-house on-the-job certificated training on Video Editing and Communication for NGOs, procurement for NGOs, Statutory compliance for NGOs, and Legal matters for NGOs.
  4. A certificate of completion.

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a legally registered incorporated Trustees, a local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill in the position of Video Editor /Communication Officer Trainee.

WEWE’s core ideology is to be one of the most financially compliant and clean NGOs in Nigeria and Africa and we want to improve the lives of millions of widows and orphans in Nigeria and Africa.

Required Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years post-NYSC experience in a reputable Organization in a similar role.
  • S/he must have experience in video and editing, developing short videos which can be posted on social media.
  • S/he must have experience in Live Streaming Video and Audio in real-time.
  • S/he must have previous experience in taking video shoots with a phone or camera and developing those videos into stories that can be posted on social media handles.
  • Extremely strong computer skills, with knowledge of relevant publishing software such as but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Ms. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Desktop Publishing (Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, PDF, Illustrator, InDesign – CorelDraw).
  • Experience in Media Production, Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, Whatsapp, Mail chimp, Google Forms, and Instagram).
  • Extremely strong in written and oral English language with research writing skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on creative approaches, attention to detail, and efficient delivery methods.

Other General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • S/he will assist to update and maintain WEWE’s website, social media platforms, and blogs.
  • S/he will assist in engaging with mainstream media (Electronic and Print) to increase WEWE’s visibility and promote project impact.
  • S/he will assist in editing technical and scientific documents and articles (proofreading, copying, designing, line editing, and substantive editing).
  • S/he will assist in the desktop design and layout of technical documents in compliance with donor branding and marking requirements.
  • S/he will assist in coordinating outreaches and events with experience in developing press releases, media coverage, press fact sheets, developing scene setters, liaising with US Embassy public affairs units, and managing print, radio, and TV media relation journalists and website information management.
  • S/he will assist in coordinating staff meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes of meetings as required.
