REQUEST FOR INDIVIDUAL PROPOSALS FOR DATABASE DEVELOPMENT

The Incorporated Trustees of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE); a women-led, local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is soliciting proposals from qualified individuals who have demonstrable experience in the development of organizational database to help build her organizational data base.

WEWE wishes to engage the service of a qualified database expert to develop a robust, stable, and reliable database that is tailored to suit the organization’s unique needs and requirements.   

He/she will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and providing after service support of the database to help the organization manage and retrieve data effectively.

He/she will work closely with the database team of the organization to understand and develop the database to suite the organization’s unique needs.

He/she is expected to present evidence of previously developed databases for other  similar organizations. WEWE will contact the users of these previously developed databases for confirmation.

He/she will ensure that the Organization’s database system runs effectively and securely.

Responsibilities

  • Design/develop robust, stable, reliable and effective database for the Organization, in accordance with international best practices.
  • Optimize the database system for the organization.
  • Modify the database according to requests and perform tests.
  • Solve database usage issues and malfunctions.
  • Gather the organization’s requirements and identify new features for the data base system.
  • Develop technical and training manuals on the developed database.
  • Provide after service support to users of the developed database.
  • Ensure all database programs meet the organization’s requirements.
  • Research and suggest new database products, services and protocols for the organizations.
  • Conduct systems (hardware/software) requirement checks.
  • Conduct network requirement checks (bandwidth).
  • Conduct server capability requirement checks.
  • Deploy the database on staff systems to test the process.
  • Training of staff on the usage of the new database including making training materials available.
  • Create users with access privileges.
  • Provide free support services after consultancy for a given period of time.
  • Create profile of engaged individuals.

Requirements

  • He/she must be a holder of a degree from a recognized University or other recognized Higher Institution, in Management Information Systems, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Systems, or other related fields.
  • He/she must have 3-5 years demonstrable experience as a database developer.
  • Ability to conduct presentation to WEWE management staff on previously developed database system(s).
  • Experience in a technology-oriented customer service organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Verifiable professional reference with regard to proficiency in database development, installation and maintenance.
  • Highly motivated and committed to the values of transparency and integrity.
