Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization – HIV Community Service (Nigeria)

As policymakers assess the growing number of widows, orphans, and children affected by the AIDS burden, the Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) has been able to achieve the following in aiding the reduction and treatment of people living with HIV and also creating awareness.
(WEWE) has achieved these things since its start-up date: WEWE has provided HIV care and support for 157919 people. It has provided aid to orphans and vulnerable children, as well as 65,254 adult caregivers, and has actively been involved in community services since 2009, when WEWE began operation. Fulfilling USAID’s first 95 agenda for children living with HIV (CLHIV) and adults living with HIV, a percentage of 99 know their status. WEWE has implemented its community services in 10 states, which are as follows Oyo, Abuja, Edo, Anambra, Rivers, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi and Benin.
On the second UNAIDS 95th agenda for CLHIV, WEWE achieved a 96% retention rate. 4454 children with HIV (CLHIV) have been identified and enrolled by WEWE. Also on the agenda for the third USAID 95th session, WEWE achieved a 94% load on suppression of 4454 children living with HIV in Nigeria. Due to WEWE’s intervention, 585 children living with HIV who didn’t finish treatment have been redirected to care by the community. Six thousand two hundred PLHIV, HIV positive adult caregivers, have been enrolled. We have returned 344 adult caregivers of OVC to care, as well as achieved 95% viral load suppression of PLHIV after exceeding the third USAID 95th agenda.
