Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Trainee – WEWE’s Trainee Program

Are you a talented/award-winning graduate with experience in Gender Based Violence (GBV) Personnel? With

  • A Second Class Upper (2.1) and above or Upper credit in any social or management science degree?
  • Are you currently working in a private local or international firm or social enterprise?
  • Are you a graduate that has received awards for in development work particularly in the area of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programs or astaff that has received awards for best staff or student?
  • Do you have an interest in transferring your skills from working in the private sector to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?

WEWE has a ‘Gender Based Violence (GBV) Officer Trainee Program’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning graduates, who have no experience working as a for an NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about Gender Based Violence (GBV) issues in an NGO setting. Also, to understand practical applications ofGender Based Violence (GBV) for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & EU.

The benefits of the trainee position are:

  1. Between N75, 000 – N100, 000 monthly and an additional 20% pension.
  2. After successful performance evaluation, trainees are eligible to apply for full-time positions in WEWE subject to vacancies and availability of funds.
  3. Opportunity for in-house on job certificated training on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) for NGOs, Statutory compliance for NGOs, and Legal matters for NGOs.
  4. A certificate of completion.

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a legally registered incorporated Trustee, a local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill in the position of Gender Based Violence (GBV) Officer Trainee.

WEWE’s core ideology is to be one of the most financially compliant and clean NGOs in Nigeria and Africa and we want to improve the lives of millions of widows and orphans in Nigeria and Africa.

Position:         Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Officer

WEWE:            Trainee Program

Location:        The successful candidate will be based in Abuja

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • S/he will organize and facilitate a GBV stakeholder Civil Society Organization (CSO) forum/roundtable of national-level actors in GBV in Abuja to discuss the learnings from the community level and how the learning affects the national policies.
  • S/he will encourage that these experiences are included in national advocacy on GBV prevention guidelines.
  • S/he will develop an agenda with at least five action steps to prevent GBV.
  • S/he will encourage these experiences to be included in national advocacy efforts on GBV at the CSO forum in Abuja.
  • S/he will organize and facilitate a national learning event with national-level actors in Abuja on GBV prevention
  • Carry out any other duties or tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications and Experience

  • First degree in a relevant field, plus a minimum of 2 years of institutional experience and expertise in Gender-based Violence (GBV)
  • First degree in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Human Rights, or related degree desired
  • At least 3 years’ experience in implementing Gender-Based Violence programs, humanitarian or development settings
  • Previous experience organizing a GBV-related workshop with picture evidence.
  • Evidence of strong report writing skills
  • Evidence of strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in developing survey Google forms using Gmail.
  • Experience developing pre and post-testing for workshop
  • Evidence of writing workshop reports

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of working experience as a Gender-Base Violence (GBV) person or any related role.
  • Very strong report-writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work long hours when needed.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Technology suave i.e., the ability to use social media handles, the internet, and to send emails.
