URGENT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT IN WIDOWS AND ORPHANS EMPOWERMENT ORGANIZATION (WEWE) – PROCUREMENT OFFICER  

Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization (WEWE) is a duly registered incorporated Trustee, a women-led, local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), and is seeking applications from qualified candidates to fill the position of Procurement Officer.  

WEWE wishes to recruit a talented and God-fearing Procurement Officer who believes in local organizations, believes that not all Nigerians are corrupt, believes in the ingenuity of Nigeria, and that the best of the Nigerian can be better than the rest

Position:                              Procurement Officer  

Location:                             The successful candidate will be based in Abuja

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • S/he will assist in carrying out daily procurement activities
  • S/he will assist in full compliance of procurement activities with WEWE rules, regulations, policies, and strategies
  • S/he will assist in the preparation of procurement plans and their implementation /monitoring
  • S/he will assist in organizing procurement meetings including the preparation
  • S/he will assist in conducting RFQs or RFPs, and receipt of quotations, bids, or proposals.
  • S/he will assist in raising the Purchase Request form for all request
  • S/he will assist to ensure that the products and supplies are high quality
  • S/he will assist in working with procurement team members to complete duties as needed
  • S/he will assist to review and analyze all vendors/suppliers, supply, and price options
  • S/he will assist to create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers
  • S/he will assist in maintaining records of vendors’ databases and other important data
  • S/he will assist in inventory tracking and update
  • S/he will assist in administrative activities
  • S/he will assist staff as needed in creating clear and understandable purchase requests and other documentation.
  • S/he will assist in ensuring that all supplies, services, and equipment required are delivered on time
  • Carry out any other duties or tasks as assigned by the supervisor

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate with a Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) degree in a relevant course such as Purchasing and Logistics, Purchasing and Supply, Business Studies, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Business administration, or any social or management science course.
  • Must have a second-class upper or first-class or upper credit or distinction.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of working experience as a procurement officer or any related field
  • Ability to negotiate contracts
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Goal-oriented, organized team player
  • Ability to work well with management and staff at all levels
  • Excellent report-writing skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work long hours when needed.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
