The Incorporated Trustees of Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE), a women-led local non-governmental organization based in Abuja, Nigeria, seeks to recruit an experienced, innovative, and results-oriented Resource Mobilization Officer on a fixed-term contract basis.
The Resource Mobilization Officer will lead the organization’s efforts to secure sustainable funding and strategic partnerships to support WEWE’s mission of improving the lives of widows, orphans, vulnerable women and children, and underserved communities.
Experience in resource mobilization strategies such as crowdfunding, placing donation boxes, proposal writing, YouTube monetization.
The successful candidate will develop and implement resource mobilization strategies such as crowdfunding, placing of donation boxes in strategic place, write proposals, identify funding opportunities, coordinate fundraising campaigns, support digital fundraising initiatives, and explore innovative income-generation opportunities to strengthen organizational sustainability.
WEWE wishes to recruit a talented, God-fearing Resource Mobilization Officer who has a call from God to serve Widows and Orphans and who believes in working with local organizations. We are looking for someone who has integrity, recognizes Nigerians’ ingenuity, and believes that the best of Nigeria can be better than the rest.
This position is being recruited based on merit. We do not have a pre-existing candidate and genuinely seek the best candidate to add value to the organisation.
Position: Resource Mobilization Officer
Location: The successful candidate will be based in Abuja
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Public Health, Mass Communication, Business Administration, English, or any related field from a recognized institution.
- A master’s degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, donor engagement, business development, partnership development, or grant acquisition within NGOs, development organizations, faith-based organizations, or social enterprises.
- Proven track record of raising a cumulative funding portfolio of at least USD 500,000. Candidates who have mobilized funding exceeding USD 1,000,000 will have a distinct advantage.
- Experience managing crowdfunding campaigns, digital fundraising initiatives, social media fundraising campaigns, donor acquisition programs, sponsorship arrangements, fundraising events, and innovative income-generation initiatives.
- Demonstrated evidence of successfully mobilizing significant funding from diverse sources, including institutional donors, foundations, corporate organizations, philanthropists, crowdfunding initiatives, faith-based networks, digital fundraising platforms, and individual donors.
- Evidence of designing and implementing successful resource mobilization strategies that resulted in increased organizational income and sustainability.
- Experience leveraging both traditional and innovative fundraising approaches, including grant acquisition, crowdfunding campaigns, digital fundraising, social media fundraising, corporate partnerships, donor stewardship, sponsorships, donation boxes, fundraising events, and online content monetization initiatives.
- Experience working with faith-based organizations, community-based organizations, or vulnerable populations will be an added advantage.
- Excellent writing, editing, research, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to develop compelling technical narratives, concept notes, budgets, and supporting fundraising documents within tight deadlines.
- Technology savvy, i.e., ability to use social media handles, internet, send email, etc.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills. (Must be friendly)
Resource Mobilization Officer Responsibilities:
- S/he will develop and implement resource mobilization strategy to ensure sustainable funding for organization programs and operations.
- S/he will identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with institutional donors, foundations, corporate organizations, faith-based institutions, philanthropists, and strategic partners.
- S/he will lead fundraising initiatives, including grant acquisition, crowdfunding campaigns, corporate partnerships, sponsorships, fundraising events, digital fundraising, and other innovative fundraising approaches.
- S/he will research and track local and international funding opportunities aligned with WEWE’s strategic priorities.
- S/he will write high-quality proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest, fundraising pitches, partnership proposals, and donor reports.
- S/he will explore innovative revenue-generation opportunities, including, social media fundraising campaigns, content monetization initiatives, and community-based fundraising mechanisms.
- S/he will work closely with program and finance teams to develop project budgets, fundraising targets, and donor-compliant submissions.
- S/he will monitor fundraising performance and provide periodic reports on resource mobilization achievements against agreed targets.
- S/he will maintain an up-to-date database of donors, partners, prospects, funding opportunities, and fundraising activities.
- S/he will represent WEWE in donor meetings, networking events, partnership forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
- S/he will support organizational sustainability initiatives and contribute to the achievement of annual fundraising and partnership targets.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
